On the Temperature Dependent Mechanical Response of Dynamically-loaded Shear-dominated Adhesive Structures
نویسندگان
چکیده
A mode II mechanical characterisation of the adhesive joints is performed testing shear lap joint specimens in a Split Hopkinson Tensile Bar (SHTB), equipped with temperature chamber. The experimentallyobtained traction-separation curves were used to develop Cohesive Zone Model (CZM) capable representing strain-rate and temperaturedependent response joints. To validate model, End Notch Flexure (ENF) multi-material made from titanium carbon fibre reinforced polymer composite laminates tested at different temperatures using Pressure setup an in-house finite element (FE) simulations such tests employing developed CZM showed model’s ability accurately predict joints’ failure as well understand sequence combinations.

Effect of firing temperature on the properties of inorganic high temperature phosphate adhesive
High-temperature adhesives are considered for high-temperature applications such as the refractory industry. In this research, inorganic high-temperature phosphate-based adhesive was prepared using alumina and micro silica as the main raw materials and monoaluminum phosphate as a binder. The effect of firing temperature on the properties of the adhesive including phases, microstructure, compres...

This paper presents investigation carried out, including experimental and numerical studies, on low-rise shear-dominated brick masonry structures for the calculation of force reduction factor R. Basic experimental tests were conducted on masonry constituent materials for mechancial characterization. In-plane quasi-static cyclic tests were conducted on twelve full scale brick masonry walls, to u...
متن کاملConsideration of Phase Transformations in the Study of Shear Bands in a Dynamically Loaded Steel Block
We study plane strain thermomechanical deformations of a square block made of steel, and model a material defect in it by a rigid non-heat-conducting ellipsoidal inclusion located at the center of the block. The boundaries of the block are presumed to be thermally insulated, and its top and bottom surfaces compressed vertically at a prescribed rate. The loading pulse is assumed to be made up of...
